Ryan is sent back in time via a magical teepee that has been passed down by
Dillon's ancestors. The teepee will sends her back to 1876 so that she can
set a trap to catch the modern day artifact thief. Her appearance could
change history and possibly the fate of Lakota warrior Wolf.
I really enjoyed this book! I mean I REALLY liked this book! It grabbed me
and I confess I couldn't put the book down from start to finish. The history
was richly researched and the feeling that I was a witness to the events was
very vivid. I am a big fan of Native American history and there was plenty
of interesting information about the Lakotas that I enjoyed reading about.
The main characters of Ryan and Wolf were fully developed and realistic to
me. Strong and real not plastic or onesided. The minor characters each had
their own place in the story. They weren't goofy or silly and weren't
neglected but enhanced the story. Also I loved the mystery twist about the
thefts as well which added to the great story line. A great read and I am
looking forward to more of Judie's books!

Here goes...
While visiting a family friend at Dunmore Castle in Scotland, Julia
Fairfield sees a Scotsman man emerge though the mist . Sexy Gavin MacKinnon
insists that he has been waiting for Julia to help him save his young son
from death. She is strongly attracted to this man but is he a local nutcase
or is he not as human as she first thinks? Why does he look exactly like the
painting of the seventh earl of Dunmore who died suddenly in 1818? When
Gavin insists that Julia must go back and save his child and she refuses -
he abducts her to 1818. Now Gavin doesn't remember her and he doesn't trust
her or any woman. Julia has no idea what she can do to change the tragedies
that Fate seemed to have planned for them and she wonders if she can open
Gavin's heart to love again.
All I can say is I was up all night reading this entire book. I was so drawn
into the story that I lost all track of time. It is so well written and the
flow of the story is so smooth and absorbing that I even shed a few tears in
one place. Julia and Gavin were so life like to me. I think I even fell in
love with Gavin just a bit but I am partial to Scottishmen! The supporting
characters added enough to the story without making it feel as if they were
fillers. When I got to the end I wanted it to go on just a few more pages!
For all you TT don't miss this! It is a great read!!

Once A Pirate

Independent fighter pilot, Lieutenant Carly Callahan, gets caught flying her
jet in a freak storm and finds herself thrust back to year 1821 and into the
arms of handsome pirate, Andrew Spencer. Andrew saves Carly from drowning
but believes her to be the fiance of his hated enemy, Richard, Duke of
Westridge. Andrew planned an act of revenge by attacking her ship and hoped
to kidnap her. When he sees Carly struggling in the water amidst the damaged
ship he believes he finally has the duke's fiance in his clutches.
I liked this book and I admit I had a hard time putting it down. The
characters of Carly and Andrew were well defined and believable to me. Strong
but vulnerable and I cared about them. I felt that the story flowed very
well since sometimes things are explained away in time travels as an after
thought to tie up loose ends, but in this book things move along nicely.
There are some surprises in the book so I can't say much more about it or it
will ruin it for you, but if you are looking for a good story with characters
you truly care about then you will enjoy this book.

Grace St. John is undoubtedly one of the best heroines I've ever read. Linda Howard is a powerful storyteller, and the way she turns mild mannered, sweet, and slightly geeky Grace from the much loved normal woman who loved her husband and brother to the hard, survivalist woman she must become is breathtaking. When her husband and brother are murdered suddenly before her eyes, Grace's innocence is forever torn from her as she must flee those who want ancient manuscripts she has been given to decipher. They tell of the Knights Templar, a subject she has been interested in for a long time, but also tells of a secret that those pursuing her believe are untold riches. Desperate to save herself and get revenge on those who tore her family away from her, Grace deciphers the manuscripts while she is on the run. She will do anything for revenge, and when she discovers one of the Templar Knights' secrets, she travels back in time to get help from the last of the Knights Templar.
I love all Linda Howard books, with the exception of her older books. This is her first time travel, and I really hope she does more! She obviously did her research on the Templar knights, which I found an intriguing part of the book. Her heroine was wonderful, and her hero was deliciously dangerous. He was definitely a man of his time, yet he wasn't overbearing or forceful, simply persistant.
I recommend this book to anyone who loves time travels, Linda Howard, or good character development. My only disappointment was that he didn't really appear until the last third of the book (at least not face-to-face with the heroine), but when he did watch out! It gets HOT!! Linda Howard is known for her *ahem* scenes, and this definitely ranks way up there in the steamy factor. I originally read the beginning, then skipped the middle to when she went back in time, but in doing that I missed the whole character of Grace so gladly went back to read it. This book is very good, different than most Linda Howard books but definitely a good read.
